UPDATE 7 July 2016: After filling some gaps especially on the 1988 records, it has emerged that Sammy Onyango "Jogoo" is probably the all time leading scorer with 91 goals in all competitions with Hesbon Omollo and Allan Thigo on 84 goals. However Hesbon continues to be the more prolific of the three if you take into account the number of years he played for K'Ogalo.
Hesbon Omollo is probably the all time leading scorer for Gor Mahia in competitive games with about 83 goals. After going for 3 years without winning the league, Gor Mahia were in need of an extra-ordinary goal getter to replace the fading stars of the 70s and his first season in 83, he top scored for Gor Mahia with 18 goals to fire them to the first of three consecutive league titles. He also captained them to the famous CECAFA triumph over arch rivals AFC Leopards in Khartoum in 1985. With the set-up of the modern game where big time players are not expected to stay in the local league for years, it will take someone extra ordinary to match Hesbon's feat. The following is a summary of Hezzie's goals.
